Our school is supported by 430,000 city patrons who have expectations and interest in its activities.? Every year we greet many people from around the country and give them a tour to observe our schoolfs activities. We keenly feel a responsibility to meet the high expectations of our supporters. Employing the features of our integrated program, we carefully think of the studentsf future and put together a curriculum for them that supports their dreams and helps them realize their life plans. A representative integrated course taken by first year students is called gPeople and Industrialized Societyh. Second and third year students undertake a comprehensive career-related research period referred to as Rashin or gCompass Needleh. Through these classes, the students contemplate on their own lifestyles, research paths to their aspirations and clearly define their goals for the future. Ultimately, through their own thinking and their own responsibility, they become resolved in their path and accumulate their studies so that they can manage their own circumstances when they enter society. From their second year onward, the potential arises for students to fix their sights on studies that are in line with their goals. A wide array of elective courses are open for them to further develop their individualities. We are endlessly devising ways to support the various aspiring paths of the students, whether those paths lead to college, a specialty school or immediate employment after graduating. Our school boasts 150 courses. These courses are categorized into groups called keiretsu. From these groups, students can select courses based on their interests and create a class schedule unique to them. Our school thus quite adequately addresses the expectations of anyone who are searching for their life path. A distinct feature of our school is the tremendous effort we put into improving the academic achievements of our students. We initiate small-sized classes in math, science, Japanese and English in order to give first year students an established foundation for their future studies. Our Information Science classes are team taught by multiple instructors so that, through their careful guidance, students can make full use of the technology available to them. Furthermore, to ensure that each student can appropriately choose their area of studies and a career path, a system is employed where homeroom teachers and sub-homeroom teachers work together to give their students solid guidance and support. Our school places great emphasis on nurturing in our students strong presentation and communication skills, the ability to effectively apply information and the capacity to develop on their own intellectually. These skills are necessary if they are to carve out a life for themselves in todayfs society. The students of Yokosuka Sogo are bright and positive, and they enjoy their high school life with confidence and pride. Every student believes in their potential. They layout their dreams, exert their will and feel the joy of making their hopes a reality. All the while, they eagerly take up the challenge of searching for and making something of themselves. As an energetic school where dreams and happy faces are abundant, we continue to build an excellent learning environment and tradition. We invite you to come and see our school, if only just one time. I want you to experience first hand, our schoolfs excellent facilities and above all else, its wonderful learning environment.
